<– As you can see by my total fangirl picture, I’m beyond excited for the recent release of City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. The Mortal Instruments series is by far one of my favorites. I’ve been waiting impatiently for  the past year for book 5 and can’t wait to sink my teeth into it! If you’re looking for a new book to read you should definitely check out this series ~ Cassandra Clare does an amazing job of making you fall in love with her characters and you won’t be able to put them down.

{City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls}

What’s even better is that production is underway for the first movie, City of Bones! So far they’ve cast Lily Collins as Clary and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace (even though I had so hoped Alex Pettyfer accepted the role). I can’t wait to see who they choose for Simon….I’m with the group of fans vying for Logan Lerman ;) would be so perfect.

<–my dream cast

who they actually cast –>

She also wrote the Infernal Devices series which is equally amazing <3

{Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince}

Happy reading my fellow & future Shadowhunters :))))

To say that I love novels is an understatement; they are more of an obsession of mine. Physically, I love the feel of a book in my hands (not a fan of the eBook craze), flipping from page to page and the sense of accomplishment as I near the end, the smell of a new hardback, and the feel of an old favorite paperback that’s been through the day-to-day wear and tear of being shoved around in my purse.

Most of all, my love of books and reading comes from my love of fantasy and my desire and wishful thinking that there’s more to this mundane life than what meets the eye.

I read a ton of young adult fiction – partly because it’s the genre I’m writing myself and want to learn and know what else is already out there – but mostly because they center around my favorite themes: innocence, fantasy, love, friendship, mystery, the unthinkable and the unimaginable.

I love that when you’re a kid you believe in everything, whether it’s Santa or Never Never Land, and find it sad that as we grow older that “anything is possible” sense of wonder and excitement is left behind.

I think this is why I love the young adult fantasy fiction genre so much. I still desperately want to believe that maybe, possibly, magic exists, and vampires just might be out there walking among us :)

Two quotes that I absolutely love:

One is from John Lennon…

“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So, I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?”

The other was by the Mad Hatter from this week’s episode of Once Upon a Time. I heard it and thought “yes, he gets it”:

“Stories…what’s a story?…storybooks are based on what? Imagination. Where’s that come from? It has to come from somewhere. You know what the issue is with this world? Everyone wants some magical solution for their problems and everyone refuses to believe in magic.”

It’s for all of these reasons (and then some) that I’ll be writing book recommendations of my favorites at least once a month. I try to read about one book per week, so there may be more.

That being said, I would love for you to recommend your favorites to me as well – any genre, I’ll read anything! Feel free to leave a comment or contact me through Twitter.

Happy Reading! xoxo

I think it’s only fitting to start my blogging journey with a post about the new journey I’ll be on over the next year ~ all things engagement and wedding planning! …yes, after 7 years, Peter proposed:) It’s funny because although I knew we would someday be married, the actual proposal and then planning the wedding never materialized in my mind and felt real. So when he got down on a knee on the beach in Tahoe, took out the ring and asked me to marry him, it was pretty surreal.

{{Peter and I were set up on a ‘blind date’ for senior ball by my best friend Jessica {who I will forever be grateful for} in 2005 and have been together ever since}}

However, at this point I’m just feeling super overwhelmed. I’ve already been to one wedding expo and despite all the fun info and freebies I got (that are already stuffed in the top corner of my closet after just one night of wedding-overload) it made me realize just how much planning goes into weddings (who would have guessed??). Almost makes me want to just elope and say ‘to hell with it all!’ Okay I wouldn’t really do that, but it’s tempting.

I even bought how-to-plan-your-wedding books…

To be honest at this point I can only take so many hours of wedding before I just can’t take it anymore and need to change the subject, which really surprises me since I’m a huge planner and love get-togethers and outings with friends. However, this party is a much bigger deal than any others I’ve planned or attended and the budget is on just a tad bit of a larger scale.

I think what makes the process harder for me is that I’ve never been ‘that girl’ whose had her wedding planned since she was 10. I’ve thought of the general details : outside wedding, romantic ambiance, pretty flowers, form-fitting/flowing dress, pretty hair and make-up, handsome groom….you know, the basics. I know my style and what I like (and more importantly what I don’t like), it’s just the details that are stumping me.

Luckily there’s this little website called Pinterest ;) After the engagement all my friends told me “you need to get on Pinterest!!!!” So of course I did. And of course now I’m hooked.

Here’s some of my favorites so far and click here if you’d like to check out my whole wedding page. So inspiring and so much fun!

Loving all white

I’m in love with this Sherri Hill dress for the reception but ahhh it’s $520

Happy wedding planning to me! xoxo

Hiiii :)

I’m back ~ It’s been a couple of years since I’ve used my wordpress, and now that I’m done with school I feel like I have more time to dedicate to writing again! We’ll see how well I do with keeping up :)

A little bit about me—–>

I recently graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in Journalism, I work full time for the state as an analyst, I just moved into my own place downtown, I’ve been working on my first novel for quite some time now but am determined to finish it this year, and last month the love of my life proposed during a weekend trip to Tahoe <3

I’m a huge book nerd. I love love love discovering new authors and books and for me, almost nothing beats taking a break from my world and getting lost in others. That being said~ I’m always open to any and all book recommendations:)
